One non-negotiable for Charlotte was hiring a hair and makeup artist she’d worked with before. “As someone with curly hair, I didn’t trust that a hairdresser in remote southern Italy would have experience working with hair texture like mine before.,” she says. “ I wanted to use someone who had done my hair and makeup before, who I knew would make me feel beautiful.” Charlotte found her stylist after working with her on set on a photoshoot in Ibiza, and instantly knew she wanted to work with her on her wedding day. “I wanted to wear my hair down and in it’s naturally curly and voluminous state for my wedding,” Charlotte says. “When I was researching bridal hairstyles for the big day, there was a complete lack of inspiration on the internet. Brides with curly and Afro hair often wear their hair up or straight on their wedding day –something I didn’t want to do.” It’s important to consider whether suppliers in the location of your wedding will have the skills to deliver – whether that’s experience working with textured hair, a range of skin types and skin colours, and more. Making room in your budget to work with suppliers you feel comfortable with should be a priority.
