Handyman
rates and charges
Working
by hour.
To
keep this as simple as possible, my rates work like
this:
Minimum
charge (covers up to two hours) is £40
After
that £20 per hour.
Working
by day.
£120
based on 7 hours & £17 per hour
On
larger projects such as house refurbishment's, kitchens
and bathrooms I prefer to work to a price. Where
possible I will always give you a firm price and
estimated deadline for works to be completed.
Working
to a budget.
On
every project small or large multiple quotes are
always advised. Similarly each project will also
have a budget.
On
larger projects I will often ask you what your budget
is. This is perhaps not "the norm" where
you will have a number of quotes that end in a price
ant the bottom of the page. Often choosing by price
alone should really be avoided. Often "similar"
quotes will differ wildly as to what is included
for this price.
Why
do I often ask? Well I prefer the approach whereby
you tell me your budget and I will go away and work
out exactly what can be done for that amount of
money. You can then compare this to your other quotes,
and you will be certain what your hard earned cash
will buy you.
When
I ask budgets, please be assured I am not prying
into how much money you "could" put towards
it, or how much your life savings are. Simply, a
project (just like at your place of work I am sure)
should have a budget - and amount you are HAPPY
to spend to make it worth while.
I
will then usually prepare a quote based on your
budget like a menu so you can pick and choose what
you want - all, part or none! For example you may
decide to rip old kitchens out yourself and also
dispose of yourself.
Also
if the budget is too tight I can often suggest areas
of compromise so you get what you want for the price
you want. That's what makes for happy customers
and repeat business and word of mouth referrals
- in turn making for happy handymen!
